Taraba Assembly, PDP okays Garba Umar As Acting Governor





 The efforts of the aides and wife of the Taraba state Governor, Danbaba Suntai may have come to nothing as the acting governor of the state, Garba Umar, has been mandated to remain in his current capacity as acting Governor of the state.



This confirmation was made on Tuesday via a resolution by members of the state House of Assembly.

Deputy speaker, Tanko Maikarfi, said it had become necessary to adopt the resolution of the executive session of the house which gave recognition to Umar.

By this development, Umar is expected to carry out some official duties of a state governor, pending the time when Governor Danbaba Suntai is fit to resume office.



Reacting, he appealed to the people to disregard the recent announcement on the purported dissolution of the executive council as well as recent appointment.

His chief press secretary, Kefas Sule, who spoke on his behalf acuused some persons of attempting to hijack the machinery of governance in the state.

In a related development, the Peoples Democratic Party Fact-Finding Committee on the health condition of Goveernor Danbaba Suntai of Taraba State has affirmed Garba Umar as the acting Governor of the state.

Head of the committee, Senator Hope Uzodima, informed newsmen that the logjam had been resolved with all stakeholders, including Suntai’s wife, Hauwa.

He urged Umar to regularly consult Suntai on major political issues in the state, while he (Suntai) continues to recuperate.

Uzodima stressed that the issue was a purely PDP in-house problem which, which was not out of control.
