Popular stand-up comedian, Ayo Makun, aka AY, must have felt like a king when his new sitcom, AY’s Crib, was screened at the Nollywood Film Festival in New York last Saturday.
The new TV comic series is a 30-minute
parody of urban realities and contemporary issues projected through the
personal experiences of the comedian himself.
Furthermore, AY, who was originally in New York to
compere the Nigerian Entertainment Awards alongside Funke Akindele,
says, “The opportunity presented itself in New York for the screening of
an episode of the sitcom and I seized it. I knew we had a good product,
but I didn’t know the level of acceptance it would receive.
However, I
went ahead hoping for the best. To my surprise, AY’s Crib received a standing ovation at the end of the screening.”
Meanwhile, the sitcom is set to debut on
Nigerian TV stations next month. The sitcom is created, co-directed and
produced by Ayo Makun.
