Okoku: "There is Hope For Nigeria with Keshi"

Nigerian Coaching Crew

Ex-international Paul Okoku has refused to blame Coach Stephen Keshi for the inability of the Super Eagles to hold on to their lead during the 2-2 draw with Liberia in Monrovia.

And as the countdown to the return leg billed for the U.J Esuene Stadium in Calabar hits feverish height, Okoku has high hopes in Keshi’s capability to steer the Eagles to victory on October 13.

Speaking to our source via phone, Okoku, says with Keshi as Eagles coach that Nigerian football was going to pick up for good.

“I have absolute faith in Keshi. I know that he is going to qualify us for the Africa Cup of Nations. Forget what happened in Liberia and Malawi, Eagles would get the ticket to South Africa 2013. In any case, it is not Keshi’s fault that we blew our lead against Liberia.

“He has proven over time that he is a good and capable coach within the short period that he has worked as Eagles coach. His players found the back of the opponents’ net twice in Monrovia and that shows that he is a good coach.

“It is the players who were unable to keep their concentration level intact that messed up the plan to get the win in Monrovia. It was up to the players to stay focussed in that game but all that is now history and I look forward to seeing Keshi not only qualifying us for the Nations Cup but also taking our football to eldorado”, added Okoku.
