Musa: I can Play As Top Striker for Super Eagles

The CSKA Moscow forward is relishing his new found goal-scoring form in Russia and would like to reprise that role with the national team against Liberia if the coach desires.

Forward Ahmed Musa has said that he would not mind playing as the top striker for the Super Eagles against Liberia this weekend considering his present scoring run at his club.

Musa has been playing in the main striker position for CSKA Moscow this season following injury to Ivoirian team mate Seydou Doumbia.

The Nigerian has scored four goals since the season started and is feeling confident that he could reprise the role for the national team if given the chance against Liberia in this weekend’s crucial 2013 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying game in Calabar.

Stephen Keshi has used him as a winger and he scored a goal in the 2-0 defeat of Rwanda in Calabar in June.

“I would like [to play as the main striker] but I think the coach knows where best to play me and wherever he plays me I will do my best for him,” Musa told Goal.com after he scored in Sunday’s 2-0 victory over local rivals Spartak Moscow.

The young striker is brimming with confidence ahead of this weekend’s encounter against Liberia and will be crucial to Keshi’s game plan as the Eagles look to banish the memory of their failure to qualify for the 2012 Afcon in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.
