An elderly man, Evangelist Nehemiah Shawon Ndur who was believed to be the oldest man in Benue State has died.
He was aged 122.
The elder son of the deceased, Mr. Gideon Iorwuese Ndur, who disclosed this yesterday in Vandeikya Local Government Area said that the father finally died after suffering old age for several years but that he (late Ndur) was still talking till he died.
The late Evangelist, he said was a dedicated Christian of the NKST church Uka, Mbawuar in Vandeikya LGA where he celebrated birthday, in February 2012, for actualizing his dream of becoming an apostle of Christ even as at old age.
Gedion said though the late father was buried, few days ago, the family members would miss him for his fatherly love, advice and encouragement.
Our source gathered that the late Nehemiah was born into the humble family of Ndur Ajoko of Mbawuar in Vandeikya local government area of the state.
It was gathered that he was born in 1890.
The late Ndur married Kahemban in 1941 and later remarried to Azamliam in 1946.He started his working carrier as a trainee evangelist in 1939 and was first sent to preach the message of God popularly called “waaji” with his bosom friend known as Jam Gbeji, when they were baptized at NKST church in Jato-Aka, Kwande local government area of the state.
Late Evangelist Nehemiah worked at NKST church Mbaakon with the head pastor, Pastor Ortese Bem in 1958 and translated the Holy Bible from English to Tiv language in 1964.
