Ike Uche Ends Goal Drought
Nigeria striker Ikechukwu Uche scored a brace on Saturday to end a dry patch in the Spanish second division. Uche’s goals earned Villarreal a 2-0 win over Mirandes to place them third on the table with 21 points from 11 games.
He struck in the 12th and 49th minutes and has now netted three times for Villarreal.
In France, John Utaka was among goal scorers when Montpellier beat Nice 3-1 in a Ligue 1 game.
Utaka’s goal came in the 64th minute and Montpellier has now moved to 12th place on the table with 11 points from 10 matches.
However, Uche Nwofor’s 31st minute strike was not enough to save VVV Venlo from a home defeat as NAC Breda hammered Venlo 4-1.
VVV are rock bottom of the Dutch Eredivisie on three points from 10 matches.
