A Nigerian Born-Malta based footballer Obinna Obiefule has advised the Nigerian Premier League and its sponsors to ensure that they pump money into the game if they desire a glamorous football league in the country.

The Mosta FC striker said that many Nigerian League players seek greener pastures abroad because the home league doesn’t seem to be able to pay their bills.

He said that though there was a little improvement in the running of the league but that if the league want to boast of over-average players, it must be able motivate its players and administrators with money incentives and awards.

“The league organizers should try harder to source for funds to run the league in a modernized way, and also ensure that they enforce the club owners to pay their players as at when due” Obinna said in a chat

“There is a little improvement in the league in Nigeria because the league is proud to produce some players for the super eagles who are actually doing very well for themselves”.

The brother to Paul Obiefule, Obinna said that it is the dream of every young player to play in Europe but the number could be reduced if proper football plans like academies are put in place to groom players that would replace aging players in our various national teams in the country.

“Every player dreams to play in Europe but if we have good academies in Nigeria, there will be young players that will replace aging players in all the teams we have in the country”.

The 24-year old striker has advised the government to endeavor to build academies and improve on the facilities we have before the starts of the new season.

“The problem is that we don’t have enough facilities for the league to run well that is why we are still struggling,”

He also said the he would be considering football administration and academy management after hanging his boots as a footballer.

“I will go into football management and build football academies in my country before I retire from football.”Obinna said.
