Governor of Kebbi state Saidu Dakingari, has welcome the planned investment the Dangote group of companies into its sugar cane plantation in the state.
Chairman of the company, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, made this known on Wednesday, when he visited Governor Saidu Dakingari in Birnin Kebbi.
Dangote Group of Companies says it would invest N112 billion ($700,000) in sugarcane production in Kebbi.
He says the project, which would begin this year, would generate about 75,000 jobs.
The Cement boss also noted that the plantation would generate 150 megawatts of electricity in the state in addition to social facilities such as functional hospitals, schools and recreational centres.
Dangote added that the company would require 80,000 hectares of land to produce 400,000 metric tonnes of sugar annually.
In his remarks, Dakingari commended Dangote over the initiative and assured him that an enabling environment would be provided for the immediate take off of the project.
